1. Locate the 1/8" TRRS connector on the iRig Mic Lav cable.
2. Plug this connector into the headphone/microphone jack of your smartphone or tablet.
3. If your device lacks a 1/8" TRRS jack (e.g., newer iPhones or Android devices), you will need a compatible Lightning to 1/8" adapter or USB-C to 1/8" adapter (not included).

1. Attach the foam windscreen to the microphone capsule to reduce unwanted noise.

2. Open your preferred audio or video recording application.
3. Ensure the application recognizes the external microphone input. This is usually automatic, but some apps may require manual selection in their settings.
4. Begin recording. Monitor audio levels within your application to prevent clipping or distortion.

5.2 Daisy-Chaining Two Microphones

The iRig Mic Lav features a unique daisy-chaining capability, allowing you to connect a second iRig Mic Lav to the first for two-person interviews or dual audio capture.

1. Connect the first iRig Mic Lav to your mobile device.
2. Plug the 1/8" TRRS connector of the second iRig Mic Lav into the combo 1/8" TRRS port located on the first iRig Mic Lav's breakout box.
3. Both microphones will now feed audio into your mobile device as a single stereo or mono input, depending on the recording application's capabilities.

5.3 Headphone Monitoring and Line Out

The combo 1/8" TRRS port on the iRig Mic Lav can also be used for real-time audio monitoring or to send the audio signal to a powered speaker.

• Poor Audio Quality (Static, Hiss, Distortion):
  • Ensure the foam windscreen is properly attached to reduce plosives and ambient noise.
  • Check the microphone's placement; it should not rub against clothing.
  • Avoid recording in excessively noisy environments.
  • Monitor input levels in your recording app to prevent clipping (distortion).
• Monitoring Issues (No Sound in Headphones):
  • The iRig Mic Lav requires your recording application to have pass-through monitoring enabled for real-time audio feedback through headphones. This is not a hardware feature of the microphone itself.
  • Ensure headphones are fully plugged into the combo TRRS port.
• Daisy-Chaining Not Working:
  • Ensure both iRig Mic Lav units are correctly connected, with the second mic plugged into the first mic's breakout box.
  • Verify that your recording application supports multiple microphone inputs or a combined stereo/mono input from the daisy-chain setup.
